BIOGRAPHY
Marina Otero was born in Buenos Aires in 1984 and currently lives in Madrid.
She is a director, performer, and author. She created the project Recordar para vivir, conceived as the construction of an endless body of work based on her own life.
Her work consists of placing her body at risk in the service of storytelling, until the date of her death.
Drawing from her own obsessions—love, time, inequality, and violence—she engages with universal themes, understanding each work as a political act.
Andrea, Recordar 30 años para vivir 65 minutos, Fuck me, Love me, Kill me, and Ayoub are all part of this ever-evolving project, which will end on the day of her death.
Her works have toured internationally and have been presented in Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Singapore, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Greece, Poland, the Netherlands, Sarajevo, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Australia, and Argentina, among other countries.
With Fuck me, she received the ZKB Audience Award at Theater Spektakel 2021 in Zurich. With Recordar 30 años para vivir 65 minutos she won the award for Best Direction in Dance at the 2016 Young Art Biennial in Buenos Aires.
With Kill me, she was awarded the top prize for Best Choreographic Work of the 2024–2025 French season (Prix de la Critique), granted by the French Union of Theatre, Music, and Dance Critics.
As a teacher, she leads workshops and creative seminars. Her pedagogical work has been presented in different countries around the world
